I lost connection mid-round - what now?

Accepted Answer

Don't panic. Scores you've already entered are saved. Once you're back online, the app reconnects automatically and syncs anything new.

If the app shows a stuck loading state after you regain connection, pull down to refresh, or close and reopen the app. Other players' scores will catch up the moment the app reconnects.

Question 2

The app shows a blank screen and Reload doesn't work.

Accepted Answer

This usually happens after a deploy if your device was offline mid-load - the browser couldn't fetch a script chunk.

Fix:
Fully close the app/tab.
Re-open it. The fresh load fetches the latest version.
If you installed it as a PWA on iPhone, swipe up from the app preview to force-quit, then reopen.

If it keeps happening, send us feedback so we can dig in.

Question 3

WhatsApp / iMessage shows the old logo when I share a link - how do I fix it?

WhatsApp, iMessage and similar apps cache the link preview (Open Graph image) for a long time, so they sometimes show an outdated logo even after we update it.

Try sharing the link from a different device, or wait a few days for the cache to refresh. The actual app always shows the current branding - only the chat preview is delayed.

Question 4

I can't sign in - what should I check?

Accepted Answer

Quick checks:
Email typo? Make sure it matches the address you signed up with.
Password autofill - let your password manager fill it rather than typing.
Forgot password? Tap "Forgot password?" to get a reset link.
Used Google or Apple originally? Use the same provider button - passwords don't apply to those accounts.

Question 5

My password reset / magic link email never arrived.

Accepted Answer

Check your spam/junk folder first - that's where it ends up 9 times out of 10. Add hello@golfwithmates.com to your contacts so future emails come straight to your inbox.

If you've unsubscribed from our emails in the past, transactional auth emails should still come through, but if they don't, email us and we'll investigate.

Question 6

Scores aren't syncing for other players in the round.

Accepted Answer

Scoring uses real-time sync, but very weak connections can stall it. If someone's scores look stuck:
The player with the laggy connection should pull down to refresh the scorecard.
Make sure they haven't accidentally signed out / been removed by the host.
As a last resort, the host can refresh the leaderboard view - scores backfill quickly when bandwidth returns.

Question 7

The wrong handicap was applied to my score.

Accepted Answer

First, check Profile → My Handicap is correct. If it was wrong when you joined the round, the round still uses the value at join time - the host (or you, if you joined yourself) can update your playing handicap on the lobby/scorecard.

For in-progress rounds, edit the player's handicap in the lobby and the strokes received recalculate instantly.

Question 8

The round won't mark as complete.

Accepted Answer

The Finish Round button is host-only. If you're the host and it isn't finalising:
Make sure every player has at least one score entered (or has been picked up).
For team formats, every team must have its team scorer set.
Try again with a stable connection.

If it still won't complete, use "End Round Early" to save what's been scored, then send us feedback with the round name.
