Welcome to Golf with Mates. By creating an account, joining a round as a guest, or otherwise using the app you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. About the service
Golf with Mates is a mobile-first web app for tracking golf scores and informal bets between friends. The service is operated from Sweden. You can reach us any time at hello@golfwithmates.com.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your login credentials secure. One account per person. You are responsible for activity on your account. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile page.
3. Guest play
You can join a round without creating an account by using the host's join code. Guest data is tied to your browser via a session ID; if you clear your browser storage you may lose access to that round. You can claim a guest player into a real account later by signing up with the same browser.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or to harass, threaten or abuse other users.
- Submit offensive, defamatory, misleading or infringing content as your display name, round name, course corrections or feedback.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts, scrape, crawl or harvest data from the service, reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or interfere with its normal operation.
- Use the bet-tracking features to organise gambling that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
- Upload photos containing other identifiable people without their consent.
5. Bets are informal
Golf with Mates is a tracking and reminder tool for informal bets between friends. We are not a gambling operator. We do not hold, transfer or process money for bets, and we do not facilitate gambling in any regulated sense. The optional Swish number is shown only as a reminder so your group can settle up between yourselves. Any monetary exchange between players is entirely between you and your group, and you are solely responsible for complying with the laws of your country.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you submit - round names, scores, friend lists, feedback, photos and course corrections. By submitting content you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store and display that content as needed to operate the service: showing your scores and avatar to other players in your round, generating scorecard images, and sending the round-complete summary email.
7. Our intellectual property
The Golf with Mates app, website, source code, design, brand, name, logo, illustrations, copy, course database, and the underlying scoring, handicap, side-bet and settlement logic (together, the "App") are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, database and other intellectual-property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own non-commercial golf rounds with friends. You agree not to:
- Copy, clone, mirror, republish or create a derivative or substantially similar product based on all or any meaningful part of the App, its UI, its scorecard or leaderboard layouts, or its scoring, handicap allowance, Stableford, Nassau, skins, match-play, scramble, foursome, Chapman, best-ball, BBB, Köpenhamnare or side-bet settlement logic.
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, extract, index or bulk-download any data, content, course information, scorecards, leaderboards or assets from the service by any means (manual, automated, headless browser, screen-scraping, API replay or otherwise).
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, decrypt or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, formulas, algorithms or business logic of the App, except to the limited extent this restriction is prohibited by mandatory local law.
- Use the App, its content or any data obtained from it to train, fine-tune, evaluate or benchmark any machine-learning model or AI system, or to build a competing or substantially similar product or service.
- Remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trademark, watermark or other proprietary notices, or use the Golf with Mates name, logo or branding without our prior written permission.
Nothing in this section restricts independently developed software that does not copy our code, content or specific implementation, nor any use expressly permitted under mandatory law.
8. Course data
If you add a new course or submit a correction to an existing course, that course information may be shown to other users when they set up rounds. Don't submit course data you don't have the right to share.
9. Emails you'll receive
We send transactional emails only (account verification, password reset, round invites, round-complete summaries, feedback acknowledgements). Every transactional email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. We do not send marketing emails.
10. Beta and early access
The service is newly launched and under active development. Features may change, occasionally break, or be removed. We will do our best to preserve your data, but you use the service at your own risk during this period.
11. Future paid features
Today the service is free. We may introduce paid plans or in-app purchases in the future. If we do, the relevant additional terms and pricing will be presented to you before you opt in. Continued use of free features will not automatically enrol you in a paid plan.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the service or put other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will notify you first. You may close your own account at any time from the Profile page.
13. No warranty
The service is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the app will be free of bugs. We do our best, but you use the service at your own risk.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Swedish law, Golf with Mates is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including disputes over scores, bets or settlements between users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.
15. Your responsibility
You are responsible for losses caused by your misuse of the service or your breach of these Terms, including third-party claims arising from content you submit.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle your personal data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the service you also agree to the Privacy Policy.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes will be handled by the Swedish courts, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
19. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force. These Terms together with the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
